Meet Melissa Reid
Registered Social Worker, Clinical Supervisor
I’m Melissa Reid and I am glad you found me. As a therapist I have the privilege of supporting individuals and families through challenging times. Clinically, I see people who are experiencing grief and loss or have symptoms or experiences of trauma. I am now providing supervision to therapists and students pursuing a degree in counselling or social work. My approach is warm, compassionate, and tailored to each person’s unique needs.
Over the years, I’ve gained extensive experience providing grief and bereavement counselling to those navigating the death of someone. I also support individuals facing other forms of loss—whether through diagnosis, fertility struggles, caregiving, divorce or separation, the death of a pet, or job loss. In addition to grief and bereavement, I am deeply passionate about adult attachment work and trauma therapy. I am trained in internal family systems (IFS) and eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR). I am a voracious lifelong learner, and I continue to explore ongoing training and professional development.
My approach to therapy and supervision is rooted in empathy and collaboration. I believe in creating a space where you feel heard, valued, and understood. By working together, we can set meaningful goals and move toward the outcomes that align with your needs and aspirations. I use a client-centred, strength-based approach, always with a trauma-informed perspective, to help guide you on your journey toward healing, self-reflection and well-being.
I hold a Master of Social Work degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and an undergraduate degree in social development studies from the University of Waterloo. I am a Registered Social Worker in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).
In life I love to wander and find new places that I can explore. I love finding a café for solitude with a good book or to meet up with a friend for meaningful connection and conversation.
