Meet Lirondel Hazineh

Registered Social Worker

In the ups, downs and turns of life’s journeys there are opportunities for learning, healing, and growth.  I believe that learning is lifelong and that many people grow best in relationship and dialogue with others. Sometimes the “other” is a therapist, or if you are seeking help for relationships in your life, couple or family work can be an ideal way to begin counselling with a therapist to support you. Our work together can address mental health, relationship issues, life transitions, personal growth, or something more specific. As a therapist, I am honoured to guide you in discovering your strengths, inner wisdom, and potential.

I work with individuals, couples and families. My therapeutic approach is integrative, and while I have a background in cognitive-behavioural, solution-focused and narrative therapies, and I do utilize these, I currently draw a great deal from attachment theory, relational-cultural therapy and emotion-focused therapies. In my work with couples, I have trained extensively in emotionally focused couple therapy and blend this with a strength-based approach, promoting communication, intimacy, and conflict resolution.

I believe early relationships and environments can leave lasting imprints and that culture also plays a large role in our lives.  I enjoy helping people explore the cultural, family of origin and attachment differences that may impact their adult relationships.  I have experience working with individuals from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, and experience working with LGBTQ2S+ folks. I am committed to creating an inclusive, compassionate, and supportive space for all.

I am a graduate of Laurier’s Master of Social Work Program, a PhD Candidate, and registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers (OCSWSSW). I bring with me an extensive and diverse 20+ year career, in various roles from front-line social worker to clinical counsellor to supervisor.

When I am not working, I enjoy hiking, yoga, reading and most of all exploring new places, near and far.
