Meet Ivanna Van Holst

Registered Social Worker

Hello there!

Let me share a bit about myself. When working with my clients, I’m deeply committed to creating a space that’s welcoming, compassionate, and free of judgment. My goal is to foster growth through a collaborative relationship, offering support every step of the way. In our sessions, I use a variety of approaches, drawing from cognitive behavioural therapy, narrative therapy, solution-oriented techniques, play therapy and person-centred therapy–tailoring sessions to meet each client’s unique needs.

I have had the opportunity to work with people from all walks of life. Over the years, I’ve supported young mothers navigating the challenges of pregnancy and postpartum, newcomers adjusting to life in a new community, and children and youth facing anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, and life transitions. I always prioritize empathy and trust, helping my clients recognize their strengths and build resilience.

I am a Registered Social Worker with both a Bachelor of Social Work from York University and a Master of Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University. As part of my master’s degree, I completed a practicum at Calming Tree from September 2020 to February 2021. There, I worked with clients from diverse backgrounds, gaining valuable experience in mental health counselling. That time was so meaningful, as it helped shape the skills, I use to support my clients today.

I’m currently accepting new clients ages 8 and up. I am also happy to offer sessions in Spanish. I look forward to working with you.

When I’m not working you will find me taking pictures of sunsets, enjoying a nice hike with my family and discovering new cooking recipes!
